White Balloon Day - September 8th 2009 White Balloon Day is Bravehearts' signature annual awareness raising event. It takes place nationally during Child Protection Week with hundreds of individuals and organisations organising their own functions in honour of breaking the silence on child sexual assault. The white balloon has been adopted by Bravehearts as symbolic of the issue of child sexual assault. On 20th October 1996 a public meeting was held in Belgium where 300,000 people gathered with white balloons in a show of public sympathy and support for the parents of young girls who were sexually assaulted and were either murdered or missing at the hands of a previously convicted and released paedophile (Marc Dutroux).   Click here for more information on White Balloon Day and how you can get involved
