BRAVEHEARTS aims to forge a ‘movement for change’ in how paedophilia is dealt with by the criminal justice sector, government and the community at large and to provide survivors with a voice. Advocating for both healing and preventative strategies, Bravehearts provides comprehensive counselling for children and young people who have experienced, or who are risk of, child sexual assault; advocacy and support for adult survivors; and is actively involved in education, prevention, early intervention and research programs (see 'About Us' for more information on Bravehearts' programs).
One in 5 Australian children will be sexually assaulted before they reach 18.
Add your voice in breaking the silence on child sexual assault and support the work of Bravehearts this Child Protection Week (September 7th-14th).
Bravehearts is working hard to break the silence on child sexual assault, but we can't do it alone. Join us in helping to raise awareness and desperately needed funds during Child Protection Week and White Balloon Day.
Buy a white balloon from White Balloon Day supporters, The Coffee Club, and fly it from your letter box or business, organise White Balloon Day events in your local community, become a member of Bravehearts, sign on as a volunteer or participate in our many fundraising events during Child Protection Week. Fundraising's only limitation is your own creativity and your passion for protecting children.
Contact Us to be a White Balloon Day volunteer or to find out how you can help in your local community or visit the White Balloon Day web site for more information.

Hetty Johnston is a mother, wife and daughter. She is a woman of passion and determination, a born lobbyist, who has succeeded in highlighting the issue of child abuse within families, schools and the church.
Her story tells of the discovery of the sexual abuse of her seven-year-old daughter, and the realisation that a much loved family member had preyed on innocent children for 40 years. Hetty tells of how this impacted her, her daughter, her husband and their family, which lead her to become a committed advocate for child protection. In breaking the silence about her own life, Hetty reveals how her earlier experiences gave her the courage to overcome despair and loss with hope and belief. Back to Top |
