Race to Protect Kids: Bravehearts Time Trial supported by Orica GreenEDGE Cycling
Cyclists are scrambling to register for the Bravehearts Time Trial supported by Orica GreenEDGE Cycling on November 24 at Samford after news that just 400 riders will be accepted.
Supported by ORICA-GreenEDGE and sprint star Robbie McEwen, the inaugural Bravehearts Time Trial is a 43km replica pro time trial which will cater for teams and individual riders and will include many of the features of a professional time trial, such as ramp start, motorbike cameras and timing gates.
There are also some great prizes on offer including a trip to the 2014 Tour de France for the highest fundraiser.
They call it the ‘race of truth’, nowhere to hide just your your bike and the clock. It takes a brave heart to ride a time trial.
Bravehearts is proud to announce that Orica GreenEDGE will support this unique cycle for kids with all funds raised going toward the education, counselling and protection of Australian children affected by sexual assault.
Bravehearts Founder and Executive Director Hetty Johnston thanked Orica GreenEDGE owner and entrepreneur Gerry Ryan for supporting the event and encouraged Australian corporates to jump on board and enter teams or sponsor riders.
“The support of Gerry and Robbie McEwen has been fantastic. We hope the cycling community will really support this fundraising event and assist Bravehearts as we continue to educate, empower and protect Australian children against sexual assault,” she said.
“Bravehearts has a vision to make Australia the safest place in the world to raise a child by 2020 and we can achieve this, but we’re relying on community support and events like this make a real difference.”
The Bravehearts Time Trial will cater for teams and individual riders and will include many of the features of a professional time trial, such as ramp start, motorbike cameras and timing gates.
This is a race for the growing number of serious cyclists who are taking up the sport and want to test themselves against the best riders in the world.
The Bravehearts Time Trial is all about the children and the Samford Parklands which will host the Time Trial will be the venue for a FREE Kids Carnival.
Riders can bring their family and friends along to the carnival which will include rides, jumping castle, kids animal farm, pony rides, clowns and lots of fairground food including fairy floss.
The local community and general public are invited to enjoy the FREE carnival while cheering on the riders.
