The Brisbane Broncos has always fostered its corporate responsibility and in 1990 established the Brisbane Broncos Charities Fund. This fund has donated over $580,000 in the last decade towards assisting underprivileged and disadvantaged Queensland youth. In 2008 the Brisbane Broncos commenced another charity initiative whereby several charitable groups are selected and financially supported over a two year period. The manner and level of support is negotiated between the Broncos and the identified charity. Recently Brisbane Broncos in the Community was formed within the Brisbane Broncos Football Club to manage the Clubs charity and community involvement. It is now under this program that the Brisbane Broncos sponsors Bravehearts. The Bravehearts publication “Break the Silence” is a biannual magazine funded by the Brisbane Broncos. In many ways the goals of RSPCA Qld and Bravehearts are quite similar; both organisations are fighting to stop the abuse of the defenceless. RSPCA Qld has long acknowledged that cruelty to animals can be a precursor to the abuse of a child. There are established links between cruelty to animals and other forms of abuse and violence. In recognition of this, RSPCA Qld signed a MOU with the Child Safety Department earlier this year. RSPCA Qld has also been calling for tougher sentencing of animal cruelty offenders to reflect community expectations.

 

 

AMA Queensland recognises the value, dedication and achievements Bravehearts delivers within the community. As Queensland’s peak medical body representing more than 5,300 doctors, sexual assault involving children is of concern to our Association. AMA Queensland supports Bravehearts through our communication channels and resources, to assist in raising awareness, defending children against sexual assault and ensuring our members have the support and conditions needed to continue providing quality healthcare.
